Welcome to SiteCheck, the site advice site!

Photo of Joe SavelbergPlease let me quickly introduce myself. My name is Jochen “Joe” Savelberg. I’ve been an Internet entrepreneur since 1995 when I started an ISP (hosting, dial-up) business with my parents at the age of 20. I currently run a network of entertainment sites for teenage girls and young women serving around 3 million unique visitors per month.

I’ve been online on various networks (AppleLink, eWorld, Compuserve, OneNet,…) since 1989 when I sent my first e-mail across the globe. I’ve been hooked to world wide communications ever since. In 1994 I started learning about the World Wide Web and visited many industry trade shows and conferences here in Europe and in the United States.

Our ISP business in the German-speaking part of Belgium was founded in July 1995 and went online on August 24th, 1995. My own entertainment networked launched in December 1995. I’ve been serving hundereds of millions people through my sites since then.

What this site is about…

There are lots of resources on the Internet which try to give you advice about how to create, promote and manage a web site. However most of those so-called experts haven’t run a large scale web operation. They don’t know the in’s and out’s of writing successful web sites.

I do actually have the projects to prove my point and give you practical advice how to optimize your web site by giving you real-world examples.

I spend around 50-60 hours per week working on the web, reading about the latest technologies and creating new content for my sites. This means that I gathered more than 25,000 hours of online experience in the last 10 years.

On this site, I tell you some little known secrets, sometimes stating the obvious, giving you advice how to build and promote a site and everything that comes along with such a project.

Everything I tell you on SiteCheck — the site advice site — comes from personal experience. You’ll quickly see how to avoid the errors I made in the past and how to build upon my experience.

Some of the advice won’t relate to your own projects but you’ll get the big idea and start drawing your own conclusions.

Please make sure to bookmark this site and come back very often as I post more and more articles.

Best regards,

Joe Savelberg
